CDSS Approved – Understanding HIV & TB – Self-Paced Online Course (4 Hours)

Description

According to Health and Safety Code Section 1562.5; The director shall ensure that, within six months after obtaining licensure, and administrator of an adult residential facility and program director of a social rehabilitation facility shall receive 4 hours of training on the needs of residents who may be infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and on basic information about tuberculosis. Administrators and program directors shall attend update training sessions every 2 years satisfactorily completing the initial training to ensure that information received on HIV and tuberculosis remains current.

Description: This course aims to enhance learners’ understanding of HIV, AIDS, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and tuberculosis (TB). It emphasizes their modes of transmission, prevention methods, and their significant impact on global public health. Learners will be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of these infections, implement appropriate infection control procedures, support patients in following their treatment plans, and promote strategies to reduce stigma associated with these diseases. By completing this course, learners will be prepared to provide compassionate, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based care. They will be equipped to work effectively in diverse settings, including healthcare facilities and long-term care environments, ensuring comprehensive support and treatment for affected individuals.
