Below is a summary of the CEU requirements for Kansas Nursing Home Administrators (NHAs), which are described in Section 28-38-23 of the Kansas Administrative Regulations (click here to view)

Required Hours: 50

Hours Permitted Online: All 50

Renewal Period: June 30 Every Two Years (Biennially After Licensure)

Required Courses:

At least 30 credit hours in administration, which may include the following subjects:
(i) General administration;
(ii) applicable standards of environmental health and safety;
(iii) local health and safety regulations;
(iv) departmental organization and management; and
(v) community interrelationships;

At least 10 clock-hours in resident care, which may include the following subjects:
(i) Psychology of resident care;
(ii) principles of medical care;
(iii) personal and social care; and
(iv) therapeutic and supportive care; and

A maximum of 10 clock-hours in electives, which shall be in the domains of practice or the “core of
knowledge” or in health-related fields.

The Kansas NHA Mini-Bundle includes the following courses (CEU hours bracketed):

• Infection Prevention and Control: Essential Practices for LTC Settings (4.5 Resident Care Credits)
• Mental Health in Aging: Recognition, Support, and Care (3.5 Resident Care Credits)

• Dementia Care: Essential Knowledge and Best Practices (3 Resident Care Credits)
• Falls in Long-Term Care: Assessment, Care Planning, and Prevention (2.75 Administration Credit Hours)
• Preventing Emergencies Through Facility Maintenance (2.75 Administration Credits)
• Ethical Decision Making in Long-Term Care (2.25 Administration Credits)
• Creating a Culture of Teamwork and Collaboration (2 Administration Credits)
• Understanding HIV, AIDS, and TB (2 Credit Hours)
• Sexual Harassment Awareness and Prevention (1.25 Administration Credits)

TOTAL: 25 Credits of NAB Approved CEUs, 14 Administration Credits and 11 Resident Care Credits
